On Thursday, May 30, 2024, CHOP presented the Brandywine Youth Club in Glen Mills with a new AED and led a CPR Training. The AED is located at the snack bar at Gillespie Field and will serve thousands of local youth sports teams and community members. The chairman of the BYC Board and fellow board member were there to accept the AED and expressed their gratitude to Blake Gives Back for this crucial support for their kids.

On Saturday, June 1, 2024, Dr. Vicki Vetter along with two other CHOP cardiologists screened 20 kids and 4 out of the 20 received ECHOs at the Hank Gathers Recreation Center. They reviewed screenings and discussed the findings of the ECHOs with the families and made appropriate recommendations. Each child’s primary care physicians also received letters to inform them of the findings and any follow-up testing recommendations from the cardiologists.

Other CHOP groups also attended to provide resources to promote children’s heart health and safety including CPR demos, social work services, concussion and injury prevention, vaccination, nutrition and physical activity, and smoking cessation programs.
